Insurance relationship and insurance contribution
SCOPE OF OPERATIONS AND INSURANCE RELATIONSHIP:
Joining the fund is voluntary for all persons who fall within its scope of operations.
The fund’s scope includes those individuals who are employed by the companies listed in Section 4 of the health insurance fund’s rules and who receive their main livelihood from these employers.
The insurance relationship must be applied for no later than six (6) months after the start of employment.
The fund’s board decides on the approval of new insured members.
A person retiring must notify the fund of the continuation of membership within one month after receiving the pension decision.
INSURANCE CONTRIBUTION:
The contribution for an insured employee is 1.4% of the salary subject to advance withholding tax, but no more than €70/month for salaried employees and €33/pay period for wage earners.
The employer withholds the contribution from the insured person’s salary in connection with salary payment, unless otherwise agreed.
The membership fee for insured pensioners is €45/month, and for part-time pensioners €22.50/month during the pension period (50% working time). The health insurance fund sends invoices for the membership fees to pensioners/part-time pensioners once a year (four instalments).
UNPAID LEAVE:
Compensations according to the fund’s rules are not paid to an insured person who becomes ill during unpaid leave (layoff, family leave, study leave, or job alternation leave).
The insured must notify the health insurance fund when going on unpaid leave.
KELA CARD:
When joining the fund as an insured person, they will receive a new Kela card with the workplace fund number 12702. This card is valid as long as the insurance relationship is active. The card must be returned to the health insurance fund or cut in half when the insurance relationship ends.
THE CARD MAY NOT BE USED:
After the insurance relationship has ended or when the insured person is on unpaid leave.
